I'm hoping it won't be that last minute and that we can make a nice craft activity together soi'm looking around for ideas. The Paas dye has already been purchased and we will undoubtly do some basic colors but I'd like to get a little adventurous. Here's one cool idea from pinterest. Chalkboard eggs. While the color isn't too Springy, there's plenty of opportunity to express oneself and re-express oneself. Anyone have a chalkboard eraser?

In the Basket
Time to start prepping for the Easter bunny and to decide on this years Easter eggs. The little one already asked if we could dye the eggs this past weekend. Yikes! She's one eager little bunny. How about the the night before. Or if things go the way they usually do Easter Day.

Time to Think Easter Eggs

What's in Your Easter Basket?
I'm behind this year on putting the little one's Easter basket together. Partly because I've been busy. Mainly because I don't want it to be all candy and as cute as they are, there's only so many stuffed bunnies a little person can own.
As a result it's turning into a hodge podge of little things like seed packets for the garden, fairy stickers, a silly putty egg, a Thomas book, colored bubbles and chocolate. It doesn't look like something out of the pages of Martha Stewart but it's filled with things a four year might actually enjoy playing with.

Going on an Egg Hunt

It's amazing how quickly the pre-K/ Kindergarten set can pick up hundreds of treat filled colored eggs. I laugh imaging my daughter having the same energy when it comes to cleaning up her toys or even myself when it comes to house cleaning. Maybe I need to hide a golden egg in our house for an inspired cleaning day.
Here's a few photos from our Easter Egg hunt yesterday. I meant to take more photos but got sucked into the excitement of the moment and just enjoyed watching the egg frenzy.

Easter Goodies

I've already tucked away a bunch of goodies to stuff in my little ones Easter basket but here are a few things I wished I had found and may even snatch up for next year.

Going on an Egg Hunt

We managed to squeeze two Easter egg hunts into a weekend that was 50% rain and I mean rain. The sun came out, we grabbed an Easter basket, braved the mud and were off to the hunt. My little one needed some egging on (sorry couldn't help myself) in terms of going for the eggs. She was too busy taking it all in to be super competitive.
We did manage to walk away with a nice jar of jelly beans thanks to some auspicious guess work. We said 333 jell beans and were off by just 5 - we left with 328 in hand. We got a big kick out of hearing our name and running over to the judging table to pick up our prize. At the second egg hunt, which was at a wild life sanctuary (pictured), someone recognized us as the winners of the jelly bean contest. A little bit of local celebrity.

Spring Weather

What a difference a few days and a little sunshine can make. Easter Sunday was amazing this year. Suddenly, after what felt like an extra long winter and way too much rain, the weather decided to behave. The timing was perfect and spring really felt like spring. The daffodils joined the forsythia already in bloom, the air was warm and fragrant and there was a real sense of renewal. We took a ride after our Easter egg hunt and I felt as if we were in a story book version of spring, complete with a babbling brook.
